Privacy Policy

treadXchange LLC ("treadXchange", "we", "us") operates the treadXchange app and this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

• Account details you give us: email address, display name, username, date of birth, and for shop accounts the business name, address, phone, hours, and services.
• Listing content you create: tire brand, size, tread depth, DOT date, condition notes, price, and the photos you upload.
• Vehicle details you add to your Garage: year, make, model, odometer reading, and maintenance history you choose to log.
• Messages you send to other users through the app.
• Location, only if you allow it, and only while the app is open. We use it to sort listings and installers by distance. You can decline and type a ZIP code instead, and you can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings. We do not collect location in the background.
• Device token for push notifications, if you enable them.
• Basic usage and diagnostic data, such as the tire sizes and brands you search for, plus errors and crashes. Search activity tells us which tires people want and cannot find, which is how we decide what inventory to go get. We do not log what you type into the free-text search box.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card numbers, bank details, government identification, contacts, photos beyond the ones you attach to a listing, health data, or your location in the background. There is no third-party advertising SDK in the app and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How we use it

To run the marketplace: show your listings to buyers, show you listings near you, let buyers and sellers message each other, send the notifications you asked for, work out which tire sizes are in demand so we can stock them, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and fix bugs. That is the whole list. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

Payments

treadXchange is free and we do not process payments. Buyers and sellers settle up directly with each other, off the platform, and we never see or store payment details.

What other people can see

Your searches are never shown to anyone, including other users and shops. We read them only in aggregate, to see which sizes come back empty. Your display name, username, city, rating, and your active listings and their photos are visible to other users. Your email address, phone number, date of birth, exact address, and vehicle records are not shown to other users. Shop accounts additionally publish the business details they enter in shop settings, which is the point of being listed as an installer.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the vendors that make the service run, and only as much as they need:

• Supabase for database, authentication, and photo storage.
• Cloudflare for website hosting, email routing, and bot protection on the sign-in screen.
• Apple for push notification delivery and, if you use it, Sign in with Apple.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is open. Delete your account and we remove your profile, listings, vehicles, and saved searches. Messages and completed sale records remain visible to the other party to that conversation or sale, with your name replaced by "Deleted user", because they are that person's record too.

Your choices

• See and change your data: Garage, then Profile.
• Delete your account: Garage, then Profile, then "Delete account" at the bottom. It takes two confirmations and it is permanent.
• Location: allow, deny, or revoke at any time in iOS Settings.
• Notifications: turn off in iOS Settings.
• Block another user: from any listing or profile. Review and undo under Garage, Profile, "Blocked users".

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data. Email us and we will honor them.

Children

treadXchange is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to the production database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes

If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date, and we will tell you in the app before any material change takes effect.
